I have over thirteen years of experience working with clients from different backgrounds and living with a variety of mental health conditions such as bipolar, depression, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, OCD, borderline disorder, trauma, psychosis disorders, and PTSD. My goal is to help clients learn to feel comfortable advocating for themselves and to take control of their mental health. There are many aspects to coaching and case management, but for the most part, it is helping clients learn how to cope with distress and gain confidence in their ability to understand and navigate their needs. When clients learn how to cope with distress, they can apply those skills to other settings such as school, employment and interpersonal relationships. Helping people manage a mental illness instead of letting it define them is an important part of my role.
Setting You up for success
Support systems are crucial for many reasons. First, they provide emotional support; having people to talk to can provide comfort, validation, and understanding during difficult times. Support systems also provide practical help which can look like assistance with daily tasks, problem solving, or navigating challenges. A support system also helps greatly with providing encouragement and motivation, especially during tough times. People get accountability from support system as well, promoting consistency in their efforts towards personal growth or recovery. Being a part of a support system fosters a sense of belonging and community, which is essential for mental and emotional well-being. And last, but not least, a support system can help teach coping strategies. Supportive individuals can share their experiences and techniques, offering new perspectives and approaches to problem solving. Overall a strong support system enhances resilience, promotes well-being, and plays a vital role in recovery from mental health issues or life changes. I collaborate with other providers and work with families to build a strong support system for my clients, focusing on individual needs. Once support is in place, a person has a solid foundation to continue to grow and transform.
